I am a bit shocked that the movie, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, has been getting relatively good reviews. I for one thought the movie was terrible.

First, it’s a romantic comedy where the two lead characters bond while making a porno….let’s just take that in for a second. The attraction of romantic comedies is that they are humorous flicks that exaggerate commonplace situations.  Is pornography suddenly so commonplace that we are supposed to somehow relate to characters that try to solve their money woes while making a porno? Are we supposed to relate to characters when they realize their love of each other because they are jealous that the other one will be sleeping with another random person in a pornography scene?

The movie is chock full of incredibly awkward scenes that are just not that funny. A little awkwardness is cute in a romantic comedy, but this movie is just awkward from the start. I couldn’t wait for it to end.

Seth Rogen’s movies are often laugh out loud, slap your knee funny. This wasn’t one of them. This is a boring, awkward romantic comedy that you will not mind missing.
